The Factories Act, 1948
Administered by India’s Ministry of Labour and Employment, Section 48 of The Factories Act (1948) requires every factory with more than thirty women employees to maintain suitable rooms to be used for the care of children under the age of six. The rooms are for feeding breaks, providing free milk or refreshments to the children and will be run by women specially trained in childcare.
