How Summer Camp Helps Your Kids!

By

There are only so many ways to keep kids engaged at home during the seemingly endless summer holidays. Before long, the children are bored, you are at your wits end and you turn to screens to keep them entertained. To avoid just such a scenario many of us opt to send them to a summer camp. But did you know that summer camps do a lot more for your little ones than just getting them out of the house? From making them independent to developing necessary life skills, the benefits are numerous!

Making New Friends

All a child knows is home and school but at summer camp they meet other kids under a completely different setting. There are team-building exercises where they learn to work together, icebreaker activities where they get to know more about each other and friendships are built based on shared interests – whether it is robotics or theatre. So, at a young age they learn the importance of networking and learning from peers!

Learn Skills

Your child might be interested in story writing, or learning about science or space, but they need opportunities to develop these skills. At summer camp they have the right environment, as well as the time to learn the activities or skills that interest them. There is access to trainers, equipment and infrastructure to help them hone a new skill. As an added benefit, mastering a new skill or improving on one will be a major boost to their confidence.

Free play

A child’s day is filled with structure and routine from the moment they get up. Getting ready for the day, school, after-school activities – everything is on schedule. But we all need to let loose sometime and summer camp gives them a much-needed opportunity to just be. There is a certain flexibility to the their day. They get to play games, be silly and laugh with friends, and relax! At summer camp, children are given enough time for free play and to enjoy the holidays, thereby creating great memories.

Staying active!

Summer break doesn’t mean lazing around and sleeping in. Kids need to get enough physical activity and mental stimulation even during the holidays. At summer camp, kids learn to try new things and take risks within the safe confines of the camp environment and under the supervision of camp counselors.  They can try new sports or outdoor activities, and have healthy competition with their peers. This ensures the right blend of work and play for the all-round development of your child.

Become independent

Without parents or teachers around at camp, children learn to make some decisions for themselves. There is a certain level of freedom at summer camp that helps them test their boundaries and rely on themselves and peers to make certain choices, rather than on an adult. In this way kids learn how to make the right decision, which enables them to be empowered and independent.

At Amelio’s summer camps, your child will learn real-world skills while still having fun. They will be exposed to a range of activities, but still have time to explore what interests them. Most importantly, friendships will be built and memories made. Find out more about what we offer, and give your child a summer to remember!
